Bugs
- Feedback Issue: MLA Citation Formatting
– Issue: MLA citations are being incorrectly formatted in TA39 (e.g., changing “(Jacobs 7)” to “(Jacobs, 7)”). This occurs due to how TA39 currently processes MLA-style citations.
– Workaround: Teachers should manually review and correct MLA citations before submitting feedback to students.
– Future Fix: A fix is being developed to ensure TA39 handles MLA citations properly, providing accurate formatting in future feedback.
Features
- Feedback Issue: Italics and Formatting (Bold, Underlining)
– Issue: Italicized text, as well as bold and underlining, is not being correctly reflected in TA39 feedback, causing issues in formatting-related rubric sections.
– Workaround: Currently, there is no workaround, but the development team is actively working on a fix.
– Future Fix: TA39 will extract formatting tags (italics, bold, underlining) from Word and Google Docs files to accurately reflect how students applied these formatting styles in their submissions.
Bugs
1. Assignment Selection Issue
– What’s the issue?: When opening an assignment through the Google Classroom TA39 Add-on, switching to a different assignment may still display the details of the first assignment you opened.
– How does it show?: The system may continue to show information for the previously opened assignment, leading to confusion.
– Workaround: Close the tab and reopen the desired/other assignment through Google Classroom to ensure the correct assignment details are loaded.
2. Incorrect maxPoints Display
– What’s the issue?: Currently, the maximum points for assignments are fixed at 100 in TA39 via Google Classroom Interface, regardless of the actual maxPoints set in Google Classroom or the Rubric used. However, grading is based on the point system defined in the Rubric set by the teacher, not the maxPoints.
– How does it show?: While the maxPoints display might be inaccurate, the grading still follows the rubric you have defined.
– Workaround: Be mindful that the grading will align with your rubric, even though the maxPoints display is incorrect. You may need to communicate this to students until the issue is fixed.
Features
1. Google Docs Submission Support
– Issue: TA39 does not currently support Google Docs for student submissions.
– Workaround: Instruct students to submit assignments as Word documents. Please watch this student submissions guide video
– Fix in Progress: We are working to add support for Google Docs submissions.
2. Handling Multiple Class Periods
– Issue: TA39 currently mixes student submissions from different class periods, limiting the ability to track individual periods.
– Workaround: Create separate assignments for each class period in TA39.
– Fix in Progress: We are developing a solution that will map each Google Classroom period/section to a separate TA39 assignment, allowing for better reporting and tracking.
